If you are new to League, you may never have been involved in a League study. The Bucks County League has not participated in a study in several years.
In 2015 and 2016, our League will be doing four studies: two National studies and two PA State studies.
National has published a Handbook for Successful Consensus Meetings which can help both new and old members understand studies. Consensus is not a vote; rather, a mutual agreement process by League members through a discussion of the issues.
The League has many positions which can be found in a document called Impact on Issues. These positions were formed by taking Consensus or Concurrence after "studying" the issues. Periodically the League reviews the positions for possible updating.
The topic for our first national study in the fall of 2015 will be amending the Constitution. The League has no current position on this issue. Background information will be given at a League meeting in September and the consensus meetings will be held in October. More information on the study can also be found on the National League's Website
In 2007, our local League was asked to join with other like-minded organizations in the county to form the Bucks County Women's Advocacy Coalition. We share several goals including education and advocacy to increase participation in government and to influence public social policy. Working together with the Bucks County Women's Advocacy Coalition, we can bring lasting and positive change to families in Bucks County by speaking in a unified voice!
The league every year partners with various school systems to provide voter registration information to their students. Contact us to assist.
The League when requested will hold non-partisan candidate forums. Please contact us if you would like to assist.
